Civil Division
There are 3 branches under the Civil High Court at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex namely:
- Division of NCVC
- BKK Division (Special Powers Division)
- Family Section
As for the NCVC section, it involves the following functions:
- Hearing Writ Cases and originating suits on matters:-
- Land Reference
- Estate Administration
- Presumption of Death
- Contract
- National Land Code
- Results
- Tort
- Trust
- Appeal Cases from Lower Courts
For the BKK section, it involves the following functions (for filing and hearing cases):
- Judicial review
- General originating suit for declaration/interpretation of law/constitutional issues
- The initiator of the appeal against the unconstitutional decision of the government body
- Appeal from statutory body under A.55A
- Any proceedings under the legal profession act
- Appeal against the decision of the Social Welfare Appeal Board / KP Tenaga Kerja/Special income tax commission
- Election petition
For the Family section, it involves the following functions (for filing and hearing cases):
- Dissolution of marriage
- Annulment of marriage
- Declaration of Divorce
- Custody rights and child maintenance
- Alimony Application
- Validity
- Adoption (adoption)
