Commissioner for Oaths of the Kuala Lumpur Court

The Kuala Lumpur Court provides the services of a Commissioner for Oaths to administer oaths and affirmation for documents that require verification under oath. The swearing of this documentation is based on the Statutory Declarations Act 1960 (Revised 2016), the Commissioner for Oaths Rules 1993  and any written law that requires a sworn affidavit.

COMMISSIONERS FOR OATHS RULES 1993 [PU(A) 71/1993]

 

Rule 21 - Fees to be levied

(1) The fee levied by a Commissioner for Oaths shall not exceed four ringgit for taking an affidavit and shall not exceed two ringgit on each exhibit referred to therein and required to be marked:

Provided that any affidavit which is declared by law to be exempt from payment of stamp duty shall be exempt from any fee when the affidavit is taken by a Commissioner for Oaths who is a public officer.

(2) The fee chargeable under subrule (1)-

(a) when charged by a public officer in the course of performing the functions of a Commissioner for Oaths shall be collected by praecipe and shall form part of the Federal Consolidated Fund; and

(b) when charged by any other person in the course of performing the functions of a Commissioner for Oaths may be retained by him.

The Commissioner for Oaths is a person appointed by The Right Honourable The Chief Justice under section 11 of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964 and the Commissioner for Oaths Rules 1993 .
