Organisation Chart of the Magistrate's Court (Criminal)

  1. Sessions Court - Tried all criminal offenses within the jurisdiction of the Criminal Sessions Court (Section 63 of the Subordinate Courts Act 1948)
  2. Magistrate's Court – Tries all criminal offenses for which the maximum penalty does not exceed 10 years imprisonment or with a fine only (Section 85 of the Subordinate Courts Act 1948)
  3. Regulating the staff of the Registry of Sessions Courts & Criminal Magistrates.
  4. Manage the registration and review of criminal cases including committal cases to the High Court, Commercial Crimes, Drugs, Sexual Crimes, Corruption, Prevention of Money Laundering, Departmental Summons, Judicial Review, Criminal Applications, cases under S. 108 KAJ , and others related.
  5. Issuing Arrest Warrants, Search Warrants, Arrest Warrants, Orders to Produce, and others related.
  6. Managing processing and approving bail matters for cases that have been granted bail by Judges and Magistrates.
  7. Sign and approve subpoenas for witnesses to appear in court to attend hearings.
  8. Manage criminal appeal cases to the High Court.
  9. Managing the Duty Schedule of Officers and Court members for remand matters under S. 117 KAJ, S. 4(1)(b) of the Drug Addicts (Treatment & Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
  10. Managing the preparation of Sessions Court & Criminal Magistrate statistics.
